Zivid, a spin-out from SINTEF, has developed the world's most accurate real-time 3D camera for robotics and industrial applications. The camera provides robots and machines with 3D vision, to make them smarter, more flexible and more intelligent. Among many applications, the Zivid product can be used to recognize randomly distributed parts for pick and place tasks or do in-line quality control of 3D components in a production line.

We are looking for a talented and experienced machine vision engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit that can help us achieve our technology goals. It’s a role that will allow you to grow your own personal, managerial and technical skill-set inside of a thriving startup environment. 


As a Machine Vision Engineer, you will work on developing our next generation camera and improve our existing products. Words to live by are simplicity, robustness and performance. We need someone who can develop functionality on our Zivid 3D camera and analyze Zivid data to make our products smarter and easier to use. This includes among other things robot and vision system calibration, processing and analysis of point clouds, object recognition and machine learning as well as implementation of production code on CPUs and GPUs. Experience with customer relations and ability to clearly articulate highly technical concepts to clients with low competence in machine vision is beneficial. 


  • M. Sc. or Ph. D. degree in Computer Science, Robotics/Cybernetics, Mathematics, Physics or similar
  • Proven experience with Machine Vision, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence and/or Robotics 
  • Good theoretical skills and a solid background in mathematics and statistics 
  • Ability to translate complex mathematical problems into algorithms and well designed software 
  • Good programming skills in C++ 
  • Programming skills in other languages, such as Python and MATLAB are desirable 
  • Experience with software packages such as OpenCV, HALCON, Point Cloud Library and ROS 
  • Experience with GPU programming tools (such as OpenCL and CUDA) is a plus (although not required)
  • Excellent communication skills, structured, and solution oriented 
  • Attention to quality and process improvements
  • A self-driven team player with a passion for technology
